HIT Platform was engineered under sponsorship from NASA and NIST.  The architecture is based on a NASA-sponsored TeamHost™ platform as a service (PaaS) for rapidly deploying large and complex software systems in less time, risk and cost.  In 2008-2011, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) sponsored SBIR Phases I and II to integrate a patented security/privacy invention (Role-based Workflow) into the platform for Health IT applications.  The result is HIT Platform™, a special-purpose Platform as a Service (PaaS) for Health IT.  HIT Platform™ includes tools and platform features for building Health IT solutions in significantly less time, risk and cost than traditional software engineering approaches.

The SBIR is moving into the Phase III commercialization stage.  HIT Platform™, Role-based Workflow, and other derivative works are readily available to federal agencies via a Phase III “contracting vehicle”.
